Swiggy & Govt Unite: Lakhs of Gig Jobs to Open Via National Portal!

In a significant move to bolster employment opportunities within India’s burgeoning gig and logistics sectors, food delivery and quick commerce giant Swiggy has forged a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Labour & Employment.

The two entities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see Swiggy integrate its vast array of gig-based job openings – spanning delivery, logistics, and support roles – directly onto the National Career Service (NCS) portal, a government-backed platform designed to connect job seekers with employers nationwide.

This real-time integration promises to significantly enhance the visibility of gig jobs offered by Swiggy to the millions of users registered on the NCS portal. Job seekers across urban and semi-urban areas will now have seamless access to timely and verified work opportunities within Swiggy’s expansive network. This collaboration aims to streamline the job search process for individuals seeking flexible and location-based work in the rapidly evolving gig economy.

The signing of the MoU was graced by the presence of Union Ministers Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and Shobha Karandlaje. In his address, Dr. Mandaviya underscored the pivotal role of the NCS portal as a “dynamic platform connecting job seekers and employers across India.” Highlighting its impressive reach, with over 1.25 crore active job seekers and 40 lakh registered employers as of January 31, 2025, he emphasized that this partnership with Swiggy would further extend the portal’s influence within the fast-growing gig and platform economy. He lauded Swiggy’s commitment to potentially mobilizing over 12 lakh job opportunities through the NCS portal in the next 2-3 years.

Dr. Mandaviya hailed the collaboration as a “win-win model,” emphasizing that while Swiggy gains access to a diverse, skilled, and job-ready talent pool, lakhs of job seekers across the country will benefit from enhanced visibility and access to employment opportunities.

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje reiterated the government’s vision of transforming the NCS into a comprehensive “one-stop solution for employment, skilling, and counselling.” She highlighted its growing capabilities in hyperlocal job matching and its potential to support both domestic and international placements, further emphasizing the platform’s accessibility and nationwide reach.

Dinker Vashisht, Chief of Corporate Affairs at Swiggy, welcomed the collaboration, stressing the crucial role of partnerships between gig platforms and government platforms in scaling employment. “Swiggy’s journey showcases how digital entrepreneurship can transform livelihoods. This MoU will empower job seekers and align with our commitment to inclusive growth in the new-age economy,” Vashisht stated.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment emphasized that this MoU with Swiggy is part of a series of such collaborations with private employers, job portals, and other leading gig platforms. This strategic approach aims to bridge the existing gap between job seekers and private sector employment, fostering a holistic and coordinated effort between the public and private sectors in facilitating job opportunities across the nation.
