Amazon has announced that Apple TV+ will be available on Prime Video in the United States later this month, priced at $9.99 per month. This move provides a significant boost for Apple, which has been struggling to keep pace with streaming giants like Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video itself.
Apple TV+ is recognized for its original series, including Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, and Severance. The service has carved out a niche in the competitive streaming landscape by focusing on in-house content, earning 72 Emmy Award nominations to date, according to a Reuters report on October 9.
However, Apple TV+ has also experienced a high churn rate, with a significant number of customers canceling their subscriptions. In contrast, Netflix has been noted for having the lowest cancellation rates among streaming platforms, as reported by market research firm Antenna.
With this integration, Apple TV+ will join other streaming services like HBO Max, Discovery+, Starz, Showtime, and Paramount+ already available on Prime Video. Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President and Head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering a wide selection of premium programming. We are proud to welcome Apple TV+ and its popular and critically-acclaimed shows, films, and events to Prime Video.”
To date, Apple Original films, documentaries, and series have received 516 wins and 2,308 award nominations, including the multi-Emmy Award-winning Ted Lasso and the historic Oscar Best Picture winner CODA. Apple TV+ also offers select American Major League Soccer matches through MLS Season Pass and hosts Friday Night Baseball, featuring a weekly MLB double-header available to subscribers without local broadcast restrictions.
